Evan Gaulke

Evan completed the Bachelor of Applied Science (Horticulture) in 1990, and began work at Hayman Island Resort in Queensland as a gardener, leaving in January 1994 as Assistant Landscape Manager. Evan moved to Voorschoten, Holland, in February and worked in a perennial growing production nursery. This also gave the opportunity to visit numerous landscapes throughout the continent. Upon returning to Melbourne in 1995, Evan gained a gardening position at Melbourne Zoo in the 'African Rainforest'. This position was relinquished in January 1996, when a contract to revitalise the gardens of Ruyton Girls’ School was offered, giving the impetus to begin Ochre Landscape. Evan is a current member and past Victorian President of the Australian Institute of Horticulture and has recently been granted a membership to the Horticultural Media Association for his regular appearances on Channel 31's The Garden Tap and the Sunday morning Gardening Show on radio station 3CR. Evan has also made several appearances on Burke's Backyard to show some of his unique designs.

Clare is a member of the Australian Institute of Horticulture and thoroughly enjoys creating diverse and unusual gardens, typical of Ochre style.
